The sudden death of an icon rocks regular celebrations

Date Added: 2009-06-26

Reeling in the success of the Sapphires and with my birthday just gone, the last few days have been full of celebration, with my mood reflecting the warm summer weather – bright.

I also must admit that despite this bright attitude, I did my utmost to avoid all mention of my birthday (as I am one of those people that hates to be made a fuss of and it's no fun as you get older anyway!), so you can imagine my surprise when I received what I thought was a late birthday card through the post. Instructing me to have a “Happy 40th Birthday” in great, big, eye-catching writing, I have to say I was pretty shocked to see that someone had guessed my age so incorrectly! Then I realized that it was actually a card celebrating Clynol’s fantastic new Age Expertise and Collagen Boost, both of which have been designed for mature women (I don’t know whether I fall into this remit yet – even though I have spotted my first few grey hairs). The new products, which we have written about on Salon Business Online, offers maturing hair much-needed TLC and a serious anti-ageing boost through a care, condition and styling range called Collagen Boost and a 12 colour range called Age Expertise.

However, all my fretting about my birthday seemed shallow and irrelevant when I got home last night to hear the news that Michael Jackson had passed away. Already his former friends are all over the TV commanding several minutes of airtime to pay their respects and some presumably grasping the opportunity for a bit of self promotion (I know I’m a cynic). Even though it is not strictly about the industry, I can imagine that all of you have been thinking about the tragic death of Michael Jackson. If you have any thoughts on him and his tragic death, have your say below.
