Akin styles Pixie Lott

Date Added: 2010-02-19

Akin Konizi recently teamed up with Brit-nominated chart-topper Pixie Lott to style her hair for the video of her brand new single ‘Gravity’, set to be released on 21 February.

Akin Konizi, Creative Director for HOB Salons and current winner of the British Hairdresser of the Year Award, was commissioned to create four very different hair looks for Pixie Lott on the set of her video, shot last month in London by director Nick Frew.

Assisted by Claire Dawson, a key member of the HOB Salons Creative Team, Akin created hair looks ranging from natural, free-flowing locks which accompanied a dancing sequence and a Bardot-esque backcombed beehive, to a more stylised set-up where Akin gave Pixie a dark, mysterious long bob for a geisha-inspired look.

A final look saw Akin reflect spring/summer 2010 trends with an intricate structured updo, consisting of three bun shapes bound with red silk material to complement an arresting and impressive sequence which sees Pixie pulled through a black space by a gravity-like force.

Following the shoot, Akin said ‘It was a great video to work on as I was able to give Pixie four very different looks. Not only was she the ultimate professional, she is also a very accomplished performer and open to experimenting with all the different styles, making her a delight to work with’.
