Salon owners could claim back money if they have been overcharged on business rates.
Most salon owners are thought to be unaware of the approaching deadline which allows businesses to contest the rates they have paid for the last five years.
Businesses have been issued with a March 31 deadline to make sure all their appeals are in.
The last revaluation was in 2005 and successful appeals to the Valuation Office Agency (VOA) could result in salon owners receiving substantial rebates.
Since then, the Forum of Private Business (FPB) says 160,000 small companies have received backdated reductions.
To prove they are paying too much, business owners must show to the Valuation Office Agency (VOA) their rates are higher than that of neighbouring properties.
It is free to appeal and once made there is a discussion period with the VOA.
