With London Fashion Week drawing to a close, we take a look at the highlights over the past few days:
On Friday, Charlie Le Mindu kicked off proceedings on the On/Off stage with a gothic collection of hair creations. The avant-garde looks featured black wigs with unusual shapes, including a trinket box covered in hair, giant crucifixes and a black rose placed on top of the head.
Ramon Gurillo also showed on Friday at the On/Off stage. His designs featured a stunning collection of knitwear with the hair, created by the RUSH session team, worn long and loose. The hair creations combined a matt texture close to the roots with brushed-out tousled ends (see image).
Saturday saw the Belle Sauvage show which had a dark, intense, industrial theme. The clothes featured lots of leather, and black shoes that looked impossible to walk in! The hair, by the RUSH session team, was also very industrial with braids and hairpieces creating a mechanical chain effect across the head.
The House of Holland show on Saturday showed off more of Henry Holland's fun and fabulous creations (he has been showing at LFW since 2006). The theme could be described as 'ghetto fabulous' as the looks were full of colour, with big statement earrings. The hair was pulled tightly away from the face in high ponytails and was created by the Sebastian Professional team featuring Shay Dempsey and Sean Dawson.
Sunday saw the Todd Lynn show where musician, Janet Jackson was sat in the front row. The hair was worn in wild creations pinned back from the face, with plenty of texture in the lengths. The clothes were equally as striking, with exaggerated lines and tailored suits sporting horse-hair style shoulders. The hair was created by the Toni & Guy session team.
Sunday evening was the much-anticipated Central Saint Martins MA show sponsored by L'Oréal Professionnel. The show saw 22 collections of amazing concepts from students of the art college, with the hair worn simple and understated, pulled back and kept as natural as possible. The front row featured a host of fashion icons and celebrities including Bianca Jagger and John Rocha.
Monday afternoon also saw the Hermione de Paula show held at the Vauxhall Fashion Scout stage in London's Freemason's Hall. With the hair by Efi Davies from Toni & Guy, the audience was treated to a spectrum of colour, with multicoloured wigs and makeup. The clothes were also very colourful, featuring short dresses with feminine prints.
Peter Pilotto kicked off proceedings on Tuesday with a show that fused architecture, 1970s interiors, and modern sculpture into the stunning collection. The hair was worn in sexy up-do's pinned back from the head and curled on one side of the crown. The hair looks were created by a team from L'Oréal Professionnel.
On Tuesday afternoon, the Burberry Prorsum show displayed not only a gorgeous collection of skin tight dresses, lace, leather boots and statement pieces, but also a host of major names in the industry, including Anna Wintour. Held in a 1,000-seat tent in the grounds of the Chelsea College of Art, the show was streamed live around the world. The hair was worn loose and flowing in simple styles.
