Members Night

Date Added: 2010-01-27

The Fellowship for British Hairdressing held their first Members Night of 2010 at the Wella World Studio last week. Compered by Fellowship President, Steven Goldsworthy and Kai Wan, the show began with presentations from Talking Heads salon, Zullo and Holland salon.

Some of the most memorable presentations of the night came from Metropolis - whose Red Square collection was inspired by the Russian Army, with fabulous outfits teamed with experienced and accomplished hair looks - and Hug 8 whose work was inspired by a rose garden and featured red and black outfits accompanied by a collection of hairpieces in each look.

The evening continued with work from:  Kennadys / Kink / Hair Advice Centre / Ciente /Silhouette Du Barry / Michelle Griffin / Ramsay & Johnson / Sean Hanna / Karine Jackson / Jacqueline Henri. All work was fantastic, with some so well put together with models, clothes and choreography, they could have come straight from the pages of Italian Vogue.

The final presentation from Georges featured the work of the BBC young hairdresser of the year Chris Appleton, his work showed metamorphasis, with models almost coming out of their cocoon-like state as they removed wefts changing their styles seamlessly.

The evening also featured an interview with Beverly C MBE.  Beverly spoke to Steven Goldsworthy saying how pleased she was that more women are receiving awards these days. Beverly was also very involved from the beginning in the BBC Young Hairdresser of the year award and spoke about receiving the MBE form her majesty the Queen and what a very proud moment it was in her life.

Ray Bird said, "Member's night is such an important part of the Fellowship calendar, with Ann Herman the show co-ordinator giving both new and established members a chance to show their work.  Most careers in show and photographic work start here.  If your work dazzles here, then you will be noticed and chosen for higher profile events such as Masterclass, Fashion focus and ultimately Salon International."
