Authentic Beauty Concept partnered with Global Creative Advocate Anna Cofone to craft innovative, high-fashion hair.
Published:SS Daley presented a combined womenswear and menswear show. The designer drew inspiration from female British artists in the early period of the 20th century. Think: British classics, reworked through hand drawn prints, felted textures and voluminous silhouettes.
“In line with Stephen’s vision, we explored the interplay of masculinity and femininity in both the men’s and women’s hairstyles. The looks feature beautifully crafted shapes that emphasise movement and volume – textural, ethereal yet controlled. For the women’s styles, we created structured shapes with rich texture, embodying both fragility and strength. Hair is swept back off the face for a contained, powerful look, while more feminine variations introduce ethereal moments by teasing out the hair. We used Authentic Beauty Concept’s Airy Texture Spray to enhance volume and Authentic Beauty Concept’s Glow Spray Serum to achieve a polished, controlled finish. For the men’s looks, we aimed for a lived-in feel, as if artists were coming together after a night out. There’s a sense of individuality in the hair, yet a cohesive and uniformed aesthetic, tied together by texture, control and a pushed back style. Ethereal moments are introduced through subtle variations in movement, maintaining a balance between structure and effortlessness,” – Anna Cofone, Global Creative Advocate for Authentic Beauty Concept.
1. Hair is prepped with Nymph Salt Spray at the roots for volume and structure and Glow Spray Serum is used through mid-lengths and ends for heat protection. Blow-dry in using vent brush, especially on the sides. Depending on texture use Amplify Mousse or Cosmic Blowdry Jelly for type 1 or 2 if very heavy.
2. Hair is kept back using Pliable Styling Paste and styled by taking set sections sprayed with a fine mist of Working Hairspray then:
– At the top, take small section and use small tongs, working away from the face to create indent in the hair
– On the sides, use a triple barrel waver in a vertical direction to create movement at the sides
– At the back, also add abstract waved section to create texture and defined movement
3. To finish, brush the hair out and use Airy Texture Spray to create soft moments and Glow Spray Serum to tame any fly-aways. Set with Working Hairspray.

Danilo Giangreco, Artistic Ambassador For Revlon Professional UK & Ireland styled the hair.
Published:Revlon Professional helped to shape the aesthetic for Dreaming Eli’s AW25 show. A dishevelled yet purposeful aesthetic, echoing the collection’s mood of disruption and rebirth. Texture was at the forefront, with models’ hair prepped using Revlon Professional Modular Mousse, allowing for effortless manipulation and a dynamic finish. The hair direction played with disruptive volume, crimped textures, and artfully undone up-dos, enhanced using Revlon Professional Style Masters Reset to create texture and volume.
“Creating the hair for Dreaming Eli AW25 was an incredible experience. We wanted to encapsulate the feeling of transformation, resilience, and raw beauty. Using Revlon Professional products to encapsulate, the collection’s evocative theme—between my heart and ribs,a beautiful story telling about the complexity of the human body, organic and imperfect, yet nothing short of perfect—was seamlessly mirrored in the hair looks, which embodied raw energy, controlled chaos, and a sense of resilience,” – Lead hair stylist Danilo Giangreco.
“Danilo has perfectly captured and brought to life the essence of the ‘Dreaming Eli woman’ with their hair styling for this show. They have created looks that are not only intense and wild but resonate deeply with the transformational theme of this collection. Each style by Danilo using Revlon Professional perfectly completes the envisioned aesthetic, embodying exactly what I imagined and more. The collaboration has been key in depicting the metamorphosis of the ‘Dreaming Eli woman’ this season—untameable but refined looks to represent her emerging from the fire, making the hair an indispensable part of the overall look,”
– Elisa Trombatore of Dreaming Eli.
NHBF explains the significant changes ahead following the government’s latest reforms.
Published:In a move that could reshape the sector’s workforce development, the Department for Education has announced the removal of English and maths functional skills exit requirements for adult apprentices, alongside a reduction in the minimum apprenticeship duration from 12 to eight months.
With the aim of breaking down barriers to entry, from February 11, 2025, businesses will be able to decide whether adult learners over 19 needs to complete level 2 English and maths qualifications to pass their apprenticeship.
“These reforms could mark a turning point for our sector. Many talented individuals who excel in practical skills but struggle with formal qualifications will now have the opportunity to pursue their passion in our sector. This could lead to a more diverse and skilled workforce, better equipped to meet the evolving needs of our clients,”
– Caroline Larissey, Chief Executive of the National Hair and Beauty Federation.
Although the reforms are welcome, faced with increasing apprentice minimum wages alongside the need for more robust employer incentives, there are however important concerns being raised about economic viability.
Extending beyond entry requirements, the End Point Assessments (EPAs) process will become more streamlined from April 2025.
Accelerated Career Paths
The reduction in minimum apprenticeship duration from 12 to eight months will take effect from August 2025 and offers new possibilities for rapid workforce development.
Administrative Improvements
Addressing existing administrative challenges faced by training providers in the beauty sector, from August 2025, the sector will benefit from simplified payment systems with the removal of data duplication requirements between the ILR and Apprenticeship Service submissions.
Advantages for Hair & Beauty Businesses
Maintaining Quality Standards
The Department for Education emphasises that apprentices will still be assessed on core skills relevant to their occupation, ensuring that the quality of service in the sector remains uncompromised.
Survive & Thrive Initiative
The NHBF has been actively addressing these challenges through its Survive and Thrive initiative. These proposals include specific recommendations for financial support mechanisms and incentives designed to make apprenticeships more sustainable for hair and beauty business owners.

Industry Professionals share their favourite hair styles.
Published:“Old Hollywood glamour took over the BAFTAs red carpet as the stars tapped into its glamourous and luxurious appeal. Vanessa Kirkby channelled this with her Hollywood waves, which were beautifully paired with a blonde hue that will be everywhere in 2025 – Old Money Blonde, a subtly creamy, expensive-looking blonde. The elegance of the hairstyle lies in their polished yet delicate style, being a perfect option for those who are seeking that timelessly classic appeal. Vanessa was the epitome of sophistication – absolutely beautiful!”
– Kirsty Judge, RUSH Hair – Vanessa Kirkby.

“Pamela Anderson looked absolutely breath-taking on the BAFTAs red carpet – a real-life angel! She elevated her long golden locks with wispy curtain bangs, which beautifully frame and soften her rectangle face shape. The bangs add texture and dimension to the hair, so I’d recommend a large round brush when blow-drying the hair to achieve that fluffy, dramatic effect. For me, they harmonised the overall look, adding the finishing touch – delicate and super feminine.”
– Jay Birmingham, Celebrity Session Stylist – Pamela Anderson.

“Slick back buns are everywhere right now, especially on the BAFTAs red carpet – Saoirse Ronan’s snatched bun was the standout for me, she made it look so effortlessly chic! That bold red lip popped when partnered with her slick back bun – so simple yet so effective. The slick back bun accentuates Saoirse’s oval shaped face, whilst highlighting her beautiful bone structure. For this look, there is no room for any pesky flyaways, so plenty of hairspray is required to smooth down and scrap back the hair,”
– Nicholas James, Owner of Nicholas James Hair – Saoirse Ronan.

“I loved Gwendoline Christie’s gothic braids at the BAFTAs – very on trend this year! Especially as we move into the warmer months, I think that hair accessories. like bows, rings and clips will be making a massive comeback! For Gwendoline’s vampy red-carpet look, she wore her hair in long platinum blonde braids adorned with black bows. Hair accessories can completely elevate what would be quite a simple look and they add a bit of fun. Mark my words, hair accessories are coming back into fashion!”
– Safy Burton, Owner of Safy B’s – Gwendoline Christie.

“Hannah Dodd’s sculpted bun was a true work of art, while the slicked-back front created a polished, minimalist frame; the back was where the magic really happened! It featured an intricate sculptural design with woven and twisted details, almost like delicate ribbons which melted into the most beautifully structured bun. It was a fresh, modern take on a classic updo; it was structured yet soft with a modern edge. The glossy finish enhanced the dimensional effect, making it a standout look from every angle. This was a style that perfectly balanced timelessness with an effortless, fashion-forward edge – perfect for a high-profile event such as the Baftas,”
– Suzie McGill, Rainbow Room International Artistic Director – Hannnah Dodds.

“India Amarteifio’s updo created an almost crown-like effect at the BAFTAs. It was a striking choice that complemented her textured hair beautifully. It worked in harmony with the natural volume and structure of her hair. The combination of the textured finish of the updo and the bangs worked perfectly, offering both movement and structure. This style brought attention to her features while still feeling fresh and untamed, showcasing the beauty of natural texture in a sophisticated, high-fashion way.
This look is a great example of how textured hair can be styled into something chic and red-carpet worthy without compromising its natural volume and form. It also suggests a shift toward more relaxed yet polished styles on the red carpet, where volume and texture can stand out as a statement of their own,”
Chris Grimley, Textured Hair Specialist, Owner of Fusion Hair Co & Textured Curl Academy – India Amarteifios.

“Selena Gomez’s polished chignon at the 2025 BAFTAs was giving real Old Hollywood glamour vibes! The side-parted updo featured perfectly placed strands, with the hair smoothly styled and tucked in a way that created a refined, structured silhouette. This look was all about precision, which made it feel particularly regal and polished. The chignon, combined with the side parting, framed Selena’s face beautifully, giving her a sophisticated look reminiscent of classic movie stars from the Golden era of Hollywood,”
– Brian ‘Leo’ McCallum, Owner of ROAR Hair & Beauty – Selena Gomez.

“Meghann Fahy’s half-up ponytail at the 2025 BAFTAs was a sleek, sultry look that was perfect for the red carpet. The style featured a smooth, swept-back top section that was expertly pulled into a clean, high ponytail, giving her a chic, controlled silhouette. Unlike more voluminous or textured ponytails, this version kept the lines neat and sharp.
The high ponytail added structure, and the lower section of her hair cascaded naturally, with soft waves that added a touch of glamour and movement without overwhelming the look,”
– Paul Watts, Joico EMEA Colour Team Artist and Ambassador – Meghann Fahys.

The common phrase, ‘you buy cheap, you buy twice’, couldn’t be more true when it comes to hair extensions.
Published:Spectrum One Hair Extensions are known for their sky high quality which is proven by their loyal returning customer retention and excellent 4.9 Trustpilot trust score; you don’t have to just take their word for it.
Award winning founder and salon owner, Katy Grimshaw, explains some of the reasons why it’s important to choose well when it comes to extensions partner and tailoring your budget accordingly.
View this post on Instagram
When you purchase good quality, often more expensive hair extensions, it makes them a much more cost-effective choice for your client over time, meaning they’re more likely to opt into extensions services over a longer period of time and be generally happier with the service. In comparison, cheaper hair extensions will need replacing much more frequently which can be frustrating for the client.
“Our hair extensions have lasted some clients up to 3 years; on average, you should be expecting professional hair extensions to last a minimum of 9-12 months”
– Katy.
Premium quality professional hair extensions are much less prone to shedding and breakage and can be easily identified as ‘luxury hair’. If you’re unsure whether the hair is good quality, a great ‘tell’ is the look and feel of thickness in each strand, which will be the same from root to tip if they’re of premium quality. Poor quality hair will often feel and look thinner towards the ends.

“Our luxury hair is known as double drawn hair and guaranteed to last for much longer. They’re also tangle and shed free, meaning they’re effortless to style and maintain on a daily basis,”
– Katy
• Make sure your brand aligns with your hair extensions partner. If you’re offering a luxury service with a luxury price tag, make sure your content, marketing and brand positioning reflects that.
• Everyone looking to launch luxury hair extensions on their service menu should look at engaging in a cross brand promotion with an influencer relevant within your region to local business.
• Collect testimonials from your clients and let them sing your hair extensions praises for you!
