Published:Launched in 2025, Behind the Mirror is hosted by salon owners Lisa Carmichael, Laura Mason and Gary Corcoran. The podcast was created to bridge the gap between hairdressers and their clients, exploring the realities of what happens behind the salon chair.
The hosts use conversations, humour and industry insight to address questions that clients may have about their hair and salon experiences. What began as three hairdressers discussing the realities of the industry has now developed into a show available through STV Player.
According to the team, the move to a mainstream streaming platform provides an opportunity to bring conversations that typically take place within salons to a broader audience.

Co-host Laura Mason said: “For us, it’s a huge moment, not only for our podcast, but potentially for the hairdressing industry itself. Hairdressing is part of millions of people’s everyday lives, yet the conversations that happen inside salons rarely make it onto mainstream television.”
The podcast has also continued to expand following its first anniversary, with guests confirmed through to mid-2027 across the hair, beauty and fashion industries.
