As Jordan Heyes Named 2026 Scholarship Winner.
Published:The Fellowship for British Hairdressing is marking a landmark moment in its history as it celebrates the 100th birthday of Fellowship Patron and industry icon Ann Herman, while announcing Jordan Heyes as the 2026 recipient of the prestigious Ann Herman Scholarship.
Born on 28 June 1926 in Perth, Scotland, Ann Herman’s remarkable career has left an indelible mark on British hairdressing. After beginning her career on leaving school, her ambitions were interrupted by service in the Royal Naval Nursing Service between 1943 and 1948, where she worked in Sri Lanka and across the UK.
Returning to hairdressing after the war, Ann worked in salons throughout London before becoming a salon owner in North West London. In the 1970s, she joined the Fellowship for British Hairdressing (then the Fellowship of Hair Artists of Great Britain), embarking on a journey that would see her become one of the organisation’s most influential figures.
Across more than four decades, Ann held numerous positions including Vice President, Deputy Chairman, Chief Show Coordinator and Events Director, earning a reputation as one of the industry’s toughest yet most respected mentors. Renowned for developing some of British hairdressing’s biggest stage stars, she was never afraid to challenge artists to raise their performance, helping shape generations of presenters and educators. Her contribution was recognised when she became the first recipient of the Fellowship’s prestigious Fellow with Distinction honour.
To celebrate that extraordinary legacy, the Fellowship established the Ann Herman Scholarship, designed to nurture emerging presenters and develop the confidence, communication skills and stagecraft needed to inspire audiences, whether performing for five people or 500.
Following an outstanding presentation at HAIRCON 2026, Jordan Heyes of Jordan Heyes Hair has been named the 2026 Ann Herman Scholar.
Over the coming year, Jordan will work alongside some of the industry’s leading educators, developing his presentation and stage performance skills while gaining invaluable hosting opportunities at key Fellowship events, including HAIRCON, the FA.M.E. Team Semi-Finals and Finals, Projects Finale, Creative XChanges and Hair & Visions.
“Winning the Ann Herman Scholarship is an unbelievable achievement. It still hasn’t sunk in. I can’t wait to take part in my mentor days and see what this chapter of my Fellowship story has in store!” – Jordan Heyes.
