Is Cryotherapy Salons’ Next Profit-Driving Treatment?

Hair.TOXX is designed to repair, regenerate and rehydrate both the hair and scalp.

Hair.TOXX is encouraging salons to look beyond traditional colour and cutting services with its professional cryotherapy treatment, claiming it can generate strong returns while offering an accessible service for apprentices to deliver following training.

Repair. Regenerate. Rehydrate

Using sub-zero technology, the treatment is designed to repair, regenerate and rehydrate both the hair and scalp by sealing a bespoke blend of ingredients into the hair at -16°C. The brand says the service delivers up to 264% more shine and hydration in a single treatment, while offering clients an experience they can’t recreate at home.

Hair.TOXX has already attracted attention from consumer beauty titles including Marie Claire, Good Housekeeping and Vogue, alongside industry award wins, and says demand from clients is driving enquiries from salons looking to introduce the service.

The Commercial Opportunity

According to Hair.TOXX, a starter package costs £1,500, including the Frozen Machine, training for two team members and enough product to perform 100 treatments. Based on a recommended starting price of £70 per service, the company says salons could recover their initial investment after around 22 treatments, with product costs of £3.39 per service thereafter.

Apprentice Opportunity

The brand also positions the treatment as a valuable opportunity for apprentices. Following an initial consultation by a senior stylist, apprentices can carry out the treatment, helping them gain confidence with clients while creating an additional revenue stream for the business.

How The Treatment Works

Each appointment begins with a consultation to assess concerns such as dryness, frizz, scalp sensitivity or hair loss before a bespoke treatment blend is selected. The hair is shampooed, the formula applied and then sealed into the hair using the Hair.TOXX Frozen Machine, before being rinsed, conditioned and blow-dried. The brand also encourages salons to recommend retail products to help maintain results between appointments.

Case Study

Driving Retail and Repeat Visits

Katie Collins of Haug London Haus says approaching the service from an educational perspective has helped strengthen client trust while opening up conversations around long-term hair health.

She says clients are more receptive to discussing damage, homecare and maintenance once they understand the science behind the treatment, creating natural opportunities to recommend retail products and additional salon services rather than relying on traditional sales techniques.

Increase footfall and introduce them to your salon’s wider service menu.

Collins also believes including a professional blow-dry within the service helps demonstrate the treatment’s immediate results, encouraging future styling appointments and retail purchases. At Haug London Haus, she says Hair.TOXX has attracted new clients specifically seeking the cryotherapy treatment, increasing footfall while creating opportunities to introduce them to the salon’s wider service menu.

Ingredients and Sustainability

Hair.TOXX formulations feature ingredients including açaí berry oil, hyaluronic acid, avocado butter, glacial water, jaborandi, bardana, candelilla and propolis. The brand says its products are cruelty-free, free from parabens, mineral oils and artificial dyes, and are made using responsibly sourced natural ingredients. It also highlights FSC-certified packaging printed with soy-based inks as part of its sustainability commitments.
