Adrian Foxworthy, director of Rainbow Room Clarkston and East Kilbride shares his advice.
Published:For salon owners and managers looking to prepare their teams and businesses for the Christmas rush, here’s what you should be prepping.
Foxworthy recommends bringing together existing product offerings into curated holiday styling packs, which can be sold either for clients’ own use or as Christmas gifts.
Gift sets could also include a complimentary treatment that can be redeemed during the festive season, while gift cards can be displayed prominently around the salon and mentioned during client appointments.
He also suggests speaking with brand representatives to find out what seasonal offers and support may be available.
The Christmas period can quickly become hectic, with stylists managing increasingly busy appointment books. Foxworthy advises salon managers to take staff rotas into consideration and ensure team members are comfortable with their schedules.
Maintaining an open environment where employees can discuss workloads both before and during the busy period can help reduce the risk of burnout while supporting team morale and wellbeing.
The festive period can also provide an opportunity to introduce clients to additional services. Foxworthy suggests incorporating treatments such as a hair reconditioning service into appointments.
As well as creating an additional revenue opportunity for the salon, introducing clients to treatments they may not have tried before could encourage them to add these services to future appointments.
Party season often sees clients looking for something different from their usual style. Offering a dedicated style menu can give clients inspiration and make it easier for them to choose a look for Christmas parties and other festive events.
Foxworthy says a style menu can also demonstrate that the salon is keeping up with current trends, while providing an opportunity for the team to showcase its work.
Finally, Foxworthy highlights the importance of maintaining a calm and relaxing atmosphere, even when the salon is at its busiest.
With clients expecting some festive atmosphere during their appointments, he recommends keeping the team calm and making the most of the Christmas period.
