The Fellowship for British Hairdressing Opens Applications for 2027 Project Teams

The Fellowship for British Hairdressing has opened applications for its 2027 Project Teams, giving hairdressers and barbers across the UK the chance to take part in a year of education, mentoring and creative development.

With a history spanning more than 80 years, The Fellowship brings together professionals from across the hairdressing industry, including salons, barbers, stylists, educators, academies and global brands. Its Project Teams are designed to nurture up-and-coming talent through hands-on education and industry experience.

What’s Involved

Throughout the year, Project Team members have access to workshops, seminars, professional photoshoots and education days hosted by leading industry figures. Participants can also gain stage experience and collaborate with their Project Leader and fellow mentees on creative photoshoots.

Projects Open for Applications

• Project X is led by Luke Benson, Global Artistic Director of Keune Haircosmetics and an award-winning hairdresser. Described as the “ultimate hairdressing finishing school”, the programme focuses on creativity, skills development, individual awareness and helping participants develop their own capabilities.
• Project Scotland aims to showcase and develop Scotland’s top hairdressing talent across all areas of creativity. For 2027/2028, the project will be led by renowned session stylist Jason Hall.
• Project Men & Media is aimed at hairdressers and barbers looking to build their skills in the growing men’s grooming market. The project is led by Josh Lamonaca, creative and educational director at MENSPIRE and Head of Education for The Fellowship.
• Project Colour, led by award-winning colourist Grace Dalgleish, offers access to leading colourists and explores colour application techniques, creativity, art direction and creative vision.
• Project Sassoon focuses on technical excellence, precision cutting and colour placement. For 2027/2028, the project will be guided by Daniel McCourt, Senior Creative Director at Sassoon, and Mia Leete, Colour Director at the House of Sassoon.
• Project Afro covers every facet of Afro and textured hairdressing and is led by Patricia Davis, International Lead Educator for McBride Research Laboratories, makers of Design Essentials.
• Project Extend is aimed at hair extensionists looking to develop their skills across different attachment methods while expanding their creativity for stage and print. Award-winning hairdresser and Project Extend alumna Marlene Lamont returns for her second year as Project Leader.
• Project Wales provides a platform for Welsh hair professionals to collaborate, learn from one another and explore new creative approaches while celebrating the distinctive style and innovation of Welsh hairdressing.

Applications Now Open

Applications opened on the 31st August 2026 and will close on the 9th November 2026, with the successful teams due to be announced on 23rd November 2026. Applications can be submitted via The Fellowship’s online application portal.
