Hair lead Lachlan Mackie created a series of individualised looks.
Published:Natural texture, movement and personal character were central to the hair direction at Fashion East‘s SS27 London Fashion Week show.
Texture and movement featured throughout the show, ranging from the polished, natural finish created for Goyagoma to the lived-in volume of Mé Mé and the sun-kissed, windswept texture developed for Jacek Gleba.
For Traiceline Pratt’s Goyagoma, the hair was kept clean and refined without appearing overly styled. The focus was on healthy-looking texture and a polished silhouette, while retaining the natural character of the hair.
Frizz was controlled to maintain the smooth finish, with Bumble and bumble Grooming Crème used where needed to refine the hair and smooth flyaways.
For Mé Mé, the hair was designed to combine glamour with an everyday attitude. The reference was an office worker heading out for after-work drinks and subsequently spending several days partying, with an indie-girl influence elevated through the collection’s couture-inspired approach.
The resulting hair was deliberately glamorous but lived-in, with fuller, blow-dried volume designed to look as though it was several days removed from its original styling.
Bumble and bumble Surf Spray and Thickening Spray were used during preparation to create body, texture and grip. A slight tackiness helped prevent the finished hair from appearing overly polished.
The styling varied across the models, with some wearing ponytails and others featuring simple twists, while maintaining the same overall character.

For Jacek Gleba, the hair was inspired by characters returning from holiday, with a natural, sun-kissed and windswept finish.
Longer hair was given an undone, textured treatment, while shorter hair was directed forwards to create a windswept silhouette. Surf Spray and Thickening Spray were used to build body and texture while maintaining natural movement, before hairspray was applied to hold the finished shape without making it feel rigid.

Section the hair at the crown and secure the sections with clips to create root lift and establish the foundation for the shape.
Apply Bumble and bumble Thickening Spray through the crown, working the product into the roots to create fullness and support.
Using a hairdryer, work through the crown while the sections remain clipped, directing the hair to create natural lift and movement. Keep the movement loose and irregular rather than forming a defined wave or curl.
Remove the clips and apply Bumble and bumble Surf Spray through the hair, working it through the lengths to introduce texture and grip while encouraging the existing movement.
Scrunch the hair to enhance its natural texture and break up the shape. Avoid using a curling wand or techniques that create overly defined movement. For shorter hair, direct the hair forwards to create the windswept effect.
Finish with Bumble and bumble spray de mode hairspray, maintaining the movement while providing enough hold for the shape to last.

The finished look is designed to feel sun-kissed, windswept and naturally textured, with volume through the crown and an intentionally imperfect finish.
