Exploring multi-tonal colour placement, dark contrasts and unexpected combinations of vibrant shades.
Published:The collection features four concepts; Calico Cat, Witch, Vampire and Siren, with each taking a different approach to colour, texture and visual impact.
Using Goldwell Elumen colour products across several of the looks, Safy B demonstrates how creative techniques can produce distinctive results, from wearable multi-tonal colour to bold, editorial finishes.
Inspired by the distinctive markings of calico cats, this look combines white, orange and black to create a patchwork effect.
The technique can be customised to suit the client, with colour placement ranging from soft, seamless blends to bolder, blockier sections reminiscent of the 1990s highlight trend.
Following processing, a toner or gloss is used to blend the shades together while retaining the dimension of the finished colour.
The result is a playful look that balances creative colour placement with wearability.
The Witch look explores the interplay between dark colour and vibrant shades, with placement designed to reveal different tones as the hair moves and catches the light.
Safy B began by colouring the hair with Goldwell Elumen Black, leaving selected areas of negative space. After rinsing and drying the hair, selected sections of black were gently lifted rather than removed completely, creating a softened base for the subsequent colours.
Goldwell Elumen in Orange, Turquoise, Yellow and Pink was then applied. As the shades blended, secondary tones of green and purple developed, adding depth and creating an iridescent finish.
For the Vampire look, Safy B created a dark, mysterious finish with flashes of orange and yellow.
Working on a model with a natural level three base, the hair was first coloured with Goldwell Elumen Black. Selected areas were then gently lifted using Goldwell Elumen Play Eraser to create a patchy effect.
Goldwell Elumen in Orange and Yellow was applied after rinsing and drying, producing an uneven, edgy finish against the dark base.
The Siren look came about by chance, using extensions previously coloured with Goldwell Elumen in Pink, Purple, Green and Yellow.
After the extensions were left wet, the shades blended to create a vibrant, multi-coloured effect. Positioned strategically around the face, the hair evoked the appearance of a siren emerging from the water.
A scrunching technique added texture to complete the look, demonstrating how previously coloured extensions can provide inspiration for unexpected creative results.
Across the four concepts, Safy B explores different ways of using colour placement, tonal contrast and texture to create distinctive Halloween-inspired hair, ranging from softer, wearable effects to bold editorial statements.
