The leaves begin to fall, the temperature gradually drops, the nights get darker, and the movies get spookier. Autumn is one of the most transformative seasons for both the weather and your hair.
We all know that hair trends move at lightning speed but as we move towards the colder months, it seems we all have the collective need to stay warm! What better way to stay warm than matching your hair colour with your favourite seasonal drink? Introducing this season’s sweetest shade… ‘Pumpkin Spice Blonde’.
Trending Now
As we move towards the autumnal months, this sweet syrupy hue has been spotted on the likes of Kendall Jenner and Emily Ratajkowski. ‘Pumpkin Spice Blonde’ is an intensely glossy, rich auburn shade with vanilla ribbons, delicately infused with flecks of chestnut and auburn blended throughout.

Add Dimenson
The addition of subtle vanilla blonde pieces throughout the hair will add dimension to the look.
Add Warmth
‘Pumpkin Spice Blonde’ is great for those gradually wanting to add warmth to their hair as we move towards the autumnal months without the need for too much maintenance. Natural roots can blend seamlessly with the coppery hues, making it a great transitional shade from summer to autumn.
Skin Tone
This versatile shade is perfect for almost any skin tone and can be customised to the individual’s style and preference, making both cool and warm skin tones pop.
Safy’s Top Tip
For me, freehand balayage is the technique of choice here, so get creative! Lighten your base to a level 9 with Goldwell Oxycur Plantin 9+, then let your creativity flow with your ‘Pumpkin Spice’ global colour, in which I used Goldwell Topchic 7KG + 8KG + 10 drops of Goldwell Pure Pigments Orange!

The multi-day event was designed to find inspiration, learn new hairstyling techniques from respected artists, and share in Aveda’s mission to care for the world.
Published:Nearly 2,300 Aveda Artists, salon owners, industry professionals, speakers and guests gathered to celebrate artistry, environmental responsibility and care.
First Up
Aveda Congress kicked off with the traditional blessing from Chief Tashka and Laura Yawanawá, a tradition that has carried through multiple Congress events as a testament to Aveda’s enduring relationship and partnership with the Yawanawá.
Next, the President of AVEDA & Hair Care, Shane Wolf, spoke about the future of the brand and new stylist-focused programs designed to provide “care to the caregivers” and empower the Aveda salon network.
Abundant Blowout
The new product, which was created in partnership with Aveda Artists, appeared in several presentations, including a live demonstration with Aveda Global Educator and Artist, Bea Carmichael, who used a small crimper at the root of her model’s hair to create even more ‘90s supermodel volume.
Congress Mainstage
Editorial hairstylists Jawara and Charlie Le Mindu shared their hair stories, followed by presenations. Jawara a curated collection of textured hair looks accented by fans and floral hairpieces made with hair. The French-born artist, Charlie Le Mindu, who has worked with brands like Vivienne Westwood, presented an avant-garde collection set in “Charlie’s Cut Salon,” complete with dancers in hair costumes.
Caution
Aveda Artists Allen Ruiz and Luis Gonzalez presented their collaborative collection, titled “Caution,” with a bold, arresting palette of black and yellow Aveda hair color by Gonzalez and his VIDA Salon team, paired with Ruiz’s precise, inventive cuts. The collection was inspired by collaboration, mentorship, and how more editorial techniques can blend with commercial, salon-friendly looks.
Symbols of Resilience
Artist and Activist, Laetitia Ky shared a segment about vulnerability and strength. She shared how embracing her natural hair became both a reclamation of identity and the spark for her transformative art. Through her intricate hair sculptures, Ky translates personal experience into powerful symbols of resilience, beauty, and care that shape our world.
Animal Print Hair
The day ended with the Evening Performance presented by Aveda Senior Vice President, Global Artistry, Antoinette Beenders. Titled “Inspired by Nature,” Beenders’s presentation was inspired by Aveda’s founder Horst Rechelbacher and mission of care. The presentation included a demonstration of her “Feathered Fishtail” braid, which she previously styled at fashion shows in the 1990s, as well as a breakdown of the techniques used to create the animal-print hair color worn in one segment of the performance. Beenders also gave attendees a sneak peek at her forthcoming collection, which was inspired by sea creatures and featured precise cuts with V-shaped fringe and dynamic movement.
Other Highlights

Setting the Tone for Top Hair Trends at the Peak of Festival Season.
Published:Now a long-standing fixture in the TRNSMT backstage setup since the festival’s inception, Scotland’s largest salon group, the award-winning Rainbow Room International, returned once again to the Artists’ Village, bringing with them their signature blend of technical skill, creative vision, and forward-thinking style.
Situated backstage beside the performers’ dressing rooms, remained a constant hub of energy throughout the weekend, supporting not just artists but their bands, management, and wider crews. The team delivered expert cuts and styling to withstand the summer heat and humid temperatures, all while setting the tone for festival hair trends right at the peak of the 2025 festival season.
“We saw a lot of Oasis-inspired styles, such as textured crops, softer mod shapes, with the Gallagher’s current tour putting that era very much back into focus“- David Nicholson, Salon Director at Rainbow Room International, Royal Exchange Square.
Among those joining David backstage were fellow salon directors Riccardo Corvi of Rainbow Room International Ayr, Jacqueline Curran of Rainbow Room East Kilbride, and Diana Carson, Creative Director of Rainbow Room International Uddingston, leading a team of talented stylists from across the brand’s award-winning salon network.
As ever, Rainbow Room International’s involvement also gave emerging talent from their salons the opportunity to work behind the scenes, giving younger stylists experience working in a fast-paced, artist-led environment.

Published:Summer is a time when clients often desire a hair colour that feels effortless, softer, lighter, and easy to maintain. This year, we are noticing a trend toward multi-dimensional colours that are seamless and tailored for each individual. These styles focus on enhancing the natural beauty of the hair rather than covering it up.
Here are three of the most popular colour services for Summer 2025 that we can expect to see more of throughout the season.
The Blurred Roots technique is an excellent option for those looking for a low-maintenance hairstyle that also delivers a gorgeous visual impact. This method is designed to create a seamless transition from the roots to the ends of the hair, effectively removing any harsh regrowth lines and resulting in a smooth, natural appearance.
One of the advantages of this technique, especially during the summer months, is that clients can extend the time between appointments while still maintaining an attractive colour. Whether it involves softening the roots of blonde hair or blending out a previous tint, blurred roots achieve a beautiful “undone” look that still appears refined – the perfect balance.
This style is a real favourite right now! Ribbon Midlights offer a fresh take on traditional balayage, with delicate ribbons of colour tracing through the mid-lengths of the hair. This technique is all about lightness and movement, and creates a gorgeous, natural sun-kissed effect.
It looks particularly beautiful on brunettes or darker blondes who want to brighten things up without going too bold. I love placing the colour, so it catches the light just right, it gives that soft shimmer through the hair that feels like it’s been lifted by the sun.
Air Touch is a technique I love for creating seamless, feather-light highlights. This method uses air, usually from a dryer, to push away the shorter, finer hairs before applying the lightener. As a result, we only colour the strongest strands, creating a beautiful, diffused blend that melts into the hair.
This technique is fantastic for clients who prefer a softer, but luxurious look, achieving lightness without any harsh lines or contrast. The final result is very natural, with multiple tones, and it grows out beautifully, making it ideal for the summer months.
