100 walkers. 24 miles. 1 incredible cause
Published:Multi award-winning hair wellness brand GLOWWA is swapping the salon for hiking boots this September as the team tackles the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge – all in aid of Hair Reborn, the charity helping people rebuild confidence after cancer treatment.
On Monday 29th September, 100 determined walkers will set off from Horton-in-Ribblesdale at 6:45am, aiming to conquer all three peaks – Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough – within 12 hours. That’s 24 miles, 5,200ft of ascent and one very rewarding finish line!
“We’ve been looking for a way to give back, something that truly aligns with what GLOWWA stands for. We’re an active, Northern bunch so the Yorkshire 3 Peaks felt like the perfect fit. We’d already connected with Hair Reborn’s incredible work, and it felt like the perfect time and the perfect cause to get behind. As more people lose their hair through chemotherapy, support often focuses on wigs but Hair Reborn provides consultation, empathy, and styling for post-chemo hair. It helps people feel better about themselves at such a vulnerable time. We’re proud to support that,”
– David Penney, GLOWWA Commercial Manager.

The Goal
To raise life-changing funds for Hair Reborn, a charity that provides free hair services, wigs, and confidence-boosting support to those recovering from cancer treatment. Founded by Lina and Joe Milazzo – after Lina experienced hair loss through chemotherapy and Joe supported her as her hairdresser – Hair Reborn was created when they saw a gap in compassionate support during recovery. The charity offers empathy and practical help to people rebuilding confidence after cancer treatment, something GLOWWA is passionate about giving back to and supporting.
Every walker has committed to raising a minimum of £65, but together the team’s ambitions (and hearts) are set much higher with an overall fundraising goal of at least £10,000.
“Hair Reborn’s work is so close to our hearts. At GLOWWA, we’re all about helping people feel confident in themselves and Hair Reborn does exactly that for people at a time they need it most. Taking on the Yorkshire 3 Peaks will be a challenge, but it’s nothing compared to the journey so many go through after cancer treatment. We can’t wait to take those steps together for such an important cause,”
– Suzanne Cooper, GLOWWA Founder.

Annual Plans
This is GLOWWA’s first major charity event, but it won’t be the last – the brand plans to make it an annual “charity day,” building both tradition and impact. At the end of the 24-mile walk, participants will gather together in a local Yorkshire pub for food and drinks – a well-earned finish to a memorable day. The 100 walkers include the GLOWWA team, insiders, salons, and brand ambassadors – all united by a shared goal to support Hair Reborn and make a real difference.
If you’d like to join Team GLOWWA, spots are still open until September 1st, and whether you’re walking or donating, every step will help change lives.

Chichester hair stylist Lily Martyns for lung cancer research.
Published:From completing a challenging five kilometre run to organising a highly successful cake sale, charity fundraising has been at the heart of Chichester hair stylist Lily Martyn’s life for the past few months.
“I got into running in April and I really wanted to push myself, doing it for a charity. When I was six, my much-loved Nan had lung cancer and unfortunately, passed away. That made a big impression on me and now I really want to do something to give back to people by raising money to help.
The run at Brighton took me right out of my comfort zone, it was very hilly and hard going, but I finished it in 33 minutes. I was pleased to have done that and raised a good sum so that inspired me to do another one. Now I’m in training for a 16k run I’ve planned to do in October, in aid of Alzheiner’s,” – Lily.

Twenty-two-year old Lily is a stylist with award-winning Q Hair and Beauty in Chichester, which has a strong record of helping good causes of all kinds. Lily has been committed to helping the less fortunate for several years, organising the Shoebox Appeal at Q at Christmas time.
“It’s for homeless people so they have something to open on Christmas, letting them know someone is thinking about them. You can get either one or two shoe-boxes and fill them with all kinds of things which will make someone’s life easier- shampoos, toothpaste etc,” – Lily.

With the promise of more to come, her motivation is strong and after achieving an impressive £1,105 for lung cancer research, she now plans to tackle a longer 16k run in October and raise money for a number of worthy causes, including an Alzheimer’s charity.
“My aim is to go on raising as much as possible for various charities. I want to support more than one because we are all affected by different issues so I think it’s important to help different charities who tackle such issues, giving people the choice of which they want to donate to,”– Lily.
