Supporting research into the five gynaecological cancers: cervical, ovarian, vaginal, vulval and womb cancer.
Published:The partnership was established as an extension of Saks’ commitment to supporting its community, with salons across the group taking part in fundraising activities and encouraging conversations around gynaecological health.
The Eve Appeal is the leading gynaecological cancer charity and works to help prevent these cancers, while supporting earlier detection when they do occur. The charity also funds medical research, provides education and offers free, expert information and advice.
According to the charity, gynaecological cancers currently receive just five per cent of UK cancer research funding, despite around 22,050 new cases being diagnosed each year. The Eve Appeal has invested more than £10 million into research focusing on screening, early diagnosis and risk prediction, with the work contributing to changes in patient outcomes, clinical management, policies and guidelines.
Saks salons and their teams have supported the campaign through a wide range of fundraising challenges, including zip-lining, cycling, skydiving, baking, running, raffles and treks, with clients also getting involved.
Janet King, head of marketing at Saks, said the partnership reflects the brand’s wider role within its community.
“Our Saks4Eve partnership means a lot to us. Because providing gorgeous hair and beauty was never the whole story at Saks.”
King also thanked Saks clients, families, friends and salon teams for their fundraising efforts, highlighting the importance of the conversations taking place in salons around gynaecological health.
Anthena Lamnisos, CEO of The Eve Appeal, described Saks4Eve as a “powerful partnership”, praising the teams for their fundraising efforts and their role in bringing people together around the charity’s work.
She added that one of the partnership’s most significant contributions has been encouraging women to feel more comfortable discussing their gynaecological health and seeking help when something does not feel right.
The charity says that every pound raised, campaign supported and conversation started contributes towards its goal of a future where gynaecological cancers are either prevented or detected at an earlier stage.
