Hair professionals are embracing pink in a range of creative colour looks to mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month, showcasing everything from metallic rose and glacial pink to vivid fuchsia and rainbow-inspired designs.

The collection brings together work from leading colourists and salon owners, demonstrating the versatility of pink across different hair lengths, textures and cutting techniques. Alongside the finished looks, the stylists share their colour inspiration and technical approaches.

Berry Tones Bring Depth and Dimension

Kirsty Judge and Tina Mehmi, members of the RUSH Colour Artistic Team, explore the contrast between light and dark berry shades, combining raspberry and violet hues with hot pink.

They describe the interplay between colour, movement and technique as central to the look, with the finished result designed to reveal intricate details on closer inspection.

For their pink formula, the hair needs to be lightened to a clean level 9–10. They recommend using one tube of L’Oréal Professionnel Dia Light 9.21 with approximately four pea-sized amounts of Red Magenta to create a cool pink with a subtle violet undertone.

A Hidden Rainbow Adds Meaning

Safy B, owner of Safy B’s Salon, created a vibrant pink look with a rainbow peekaboo panel underneath, combining bold colour with a message of hope and positivity.

“I wanted the pink to be the main character, with a pop of rainbow underneath signature look at Safy B’s!” Safy explains. “A rainbow represents hope, strength and positivity, so it felt really fitting to include that alongside the pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.”

Working on hair with faded pink colour and approximately one inch of natural regrowth, Safy used Goldwell Topchic 11SV to create dimension at the roots and lighten the hair, followed by Goldwell Elumen PK@all for the vibrant pink.

The hidden rainbow was created using Goldwell Elumen in PK@all, VV@all, TQ@all, YY@all and KK@all. The rainbow section was placed between two pink sections, allowing the colours to reveal themselves through movement rather than appearing as obvious vertical stripes.

Metallic Pink for the Cooler Months

Dan Spiller, JOICO Colour Ambassador, sees metallic pink as a key colour direction for the cooler season, challenging the perception that pink is primarily a summer shade.

His look combines a sleek long bob with soft, romantic waves and a pink-to-rosé gradient, creating depth and dimension while adding warmth and luminosity.

The colour formula combines a JOICO LumiShine Permanent Crème Color root smudge in 5NRV with a 10-volume developer. Lowlights are created using JOICO LumiShine Demi-Permanent Liquid Color, while JOICO Color Intensity Semi-Permanent Soft Pink is applied through the lengths and ends.

Textured Crops and Statement Fringes

For Alex Thaddeus, stylist and owner of Alex Thaddeus Hairdressing, the focus is on combining three shades of pink to create contrast in a textured crop.

Rose-pink tones are feathered through the sides and ends, complemented by silver-lilac highlights and a saturated hot-pink magenta fringe. The fringe is coloured in a separate block to emphasise its shape and create a defined finish.

The look was created using Goldwell Elumen, with PK@all and Elumen Play Rose used for the fringe, alongside a touch of YY@all. Lighter pink tones through the top and crown were achieved using SV@10, VV@all and PK@all.

Meanwhile, Marlene Lamont, owner of Uban Hair & Beauty, takes a cooler approach with glacial pink. The pearlescent shade is designed to complement the winter season, paired with an asymmetrical cut and a strong, swept fringe.

Lamont neutralised the hair using Mood 9.17 before applying Mood’s Moody Toner in 915 to wet hair for a glossy, icy finish. Texture through the fringe and ends adds movement and softens the overall shape.

Chris Grimley, textured hair specialist and owner of Fusion Hair Co, explores cotton-candy pink in a contemporary micro bob. Created by mixing Crazy Color Pinkissimo with a touch of Cyclamen, the custom shade combines bubblegum and magenta tones.

A solid, straight bob is layered to introduce movement and texture, while a micro fringe creates a graphic frame around the face.

Bold Fuchsia and Vibrant Pink

Tracey Ann Smith, MOOD creative director, demonstrates how pink can move beyond traditional pastel and hot-pink shades. Her fuchsia look combines a vivid base with deeper blue and purple tones, creating a saturated finish that shifts in the light.

MOOD Paint Colour in fuchsia, mixed with a hint of red and layered over purple and blue, creates the colour effect. MOOD Salt & Care Spray and MOOD Texturising Spray Wax complete the textured shag style.

Brian Leo McCallum, founder of ROAR Hair and Beauty, takes a dimensional approach, blending vibrant pink into the natural roots to create a softer grow-out. Loose curls help reveal the different pink tones as they catch the light.

For Suzie McGill, artistic director at Rainbow Room Uddingston, the focus is on a short, dramatic crop. A global application of vibrant pink creates a bold statement, while textured spikes add a punk-inspired edge.

Together, the looks demonstrate how pink can be adapted across a wide range of salon styles, from cool, pearlescent finishes and soft metallic gradients to vivid statement crops and concealed rainbow colour. The collection celebrates creative expression while marking Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
