Hairdresser and creative mentor Candice McKay is launching The Creative Retreat, a new two-day education experience designed to help hairdressers develop their creative practice away from the pressures of everyday salon life.

When

Taking place in London on 26–27 July, the retreat is aimed at hairdressers, educators, salon owners and freelance professionals looking to explore new ideas, strengthen their creative direction and develop skills beyond technical hairdressing.

Where

Hosted at Mash Studio, the programme combines practical workshops with collaborative discussions, covering topics including mood board creation, concept development, visual storytelling, trend forecasting, social media strategy and creative planning.

Reconnect with Creativity

McKay says the retreat has been created to encourage participants to step back from their daily routines and reconnect with the creative side of the profession.

“Hairdressing is about far more than technique. It’s vision, creativity and storytelling. This retreat is about creating the space to explore ideas, develop confidence in your creative thinking and reconnect with why you create in the first place,”
– McKay.

Mindfulness

The two-day programme also incorporates mindful practices designed to encourage reflection and creative focus, alongside an evening walking art tour of London intended to inspire new ideas outside the studio environment.

Collaboration Over Competition

Participants will work in small groups, with the emphasis on collaboration and creative exploration rather than competition.

For…

The retreat is open to freelance hairdressers, salon owners, educators, session stylists and other creative professionals. Attendance includes all workshops, course materials, refreshments and lunches across both days, as well as the guided art walk.

Build Confidence

McKay, who works as a hairdresser, educator and creative mentor, says the programme has been developed to help professionals build confidence, generate original ideas and apply them across salon work, photographic collections, competitions and social media.
