Enki Encourages Salons to Rethink Their Towel Routine

From saving money to helping the environment.

As sustainability continues to shape purchasing decisions across the professional hair industry, Enki is encouraging salons to reconsider one of the most frequently used items in the business… the salon towel.

The company, which specialises in biodegradable, single-use salon towels, is highlighting the operational and environmental benefits of switching from traditional cotton towels to its plant fibre alternative.

No Need to Wash

Made from natural fibres, Enki towels are designed to provide every client with a fresh, hygienic towel while eliminating the need for washing, drying and storing large volumes of laundry. According to the company, the towels biodegrade within 8 to 12 weeks after disposal in general household waste and can also be composted where appropriate.

Storage Space

One of the most common concerns raised by salon owners considering the switch is storage space. Enki says a pack of 50 towels occupies roughly the same space as around 10 conventional cotton towels, with each pack arriving pre-folded and hygienically wrapped for immediate use.

Reduce Dry Time

The company also believes disposable towels have evolved significantly in recent years. Its embossed towels are designed to absorb up to seven times more water than conventional cotton towels, helping to reduce drying time while providing a luxury client experience.

Save Money

Alongside the environmental benefits, Enki says many salons report savings through reduced laundry costs, including lower water and energy consumption, detergent use and staff time spent washing and folding towels. The company estimates salons could save up to £3,000 per year, depending on their size and towel usage.

To help salons explore whether the system is right for their business, Enki has published a comprehensive online FAQ covering everything from disposal and storage to application techniques and cost comparisons. The company is also offering complimentary towel samples, allowing salons to trial the products before making the switch.
