Different Cuts & Situations

The platform has been developed to help learners build a stronger understanding of the principles behind haircutting, rather than simply learning individual techniques. According to Brown, this approach is intended to help learners become more confident adapting techniques to different haircuts and situations.

The programme currently offers more than 60 cutting courses across foundation and advanced levels, alongside dedicated blow-dry education. New content will also be added monthly.

Designed to complement, rather than replace, traditional teaching, the platform can be accessed by learners in the classroom, salon or at home. Tutors and assessors can also use the resource to provide a consistent approach to cutting education and track learner engagement and progress.

Simplifying Learning

Brown said the platform was developed in response to the challenges learners can face when developing cutting skills.

“Haircutting can often feel overwhelming for learners because they’re shown techniques without always understanding the ‘why’ behind them,” he said.

“My aim has always been to simplify the learning process by teaching the theory that underpins every haircut. Once learners understand those principles, their confidence grows naturally.”

He added that the platform was designed to support existing educators and training providers. It provides educators with a consistent, structured resource that learners can revisit whenever they need it, helping reinforce classroom learning and build stronger technical skills.

Learner Confidence

The platform is already being used by training providers delivering qualifications across Scotland and England, with early feedback reportedly highlighting improvements in learner confidence, consistency and engagement. Tutors have also highlighted the platform’s learner tracking and reporting functions.

Brown has taught hairdressing in more than 40 countries, working with colleges, academies and professional hairdressers internationally. His education approach focuses on making cutting theory easier for learners to understand.

The launch comes as blended learning continues to form part of the education landscape, with Ben Brown Education aiming to give training providers an additional digital resource that learners can access alongside their existing education.

The platform is available at www.benbrown.hair.
