The new look comes as the buzz cut continues to make a comeback, with the traditionally simple clipper cut becoming increasingly popular among men looking for a practical style with a contemporary edge. As previously explored by Salon Business, the modern buzz cut can be adapted through different clipper lengths, fades and textured finishes, making it far more versatile than the traditional one-length cut.
Bailey Snowden of Snowden Hair shares his thoughts on the trend.
Bailey Snowden from Snowden Hair is a fan of Haaland’s latest transformation, noting that the footballer has returned to a style reminiscent of his early playing days.
“I am a huge fan of the new look. Haaland is taking it right back to his roots with a style that he rocked when he was a young player.”
Snowden believes the change was well overdue, adding that the buzz cut gives Haaland a fresh and streamlined appearance.
“I think that it was about time that he freshened up his look and I can really get behind the buzz cut.”
While Snowden rates the current style highly, he believes there is an opportunity to give the cut an even more polished finish.
“It currently looks very natural; however, I think he would really benefit from a skin fade or a taper to finish.”
Adding a fade or taper is one of the ways barbers can personalise a modern buzz cut. A low, mid or high skin fade can introduce sharper definition, while leaving more length through the top can create a softer finish.

For Haaland, Snowden believes this additional detail would give the look a more premium feel.
“This would give the style a touch of premium edge, but overall it’s 10/10 and I rate the new look.”
Haaland’s transformation comes at a time when the buzz cut is enjoying a revival. Once closely associated with military-style grooming, the look has evolved into a versatile men’s haircut that can be tailored to different face shapes, hair types and personal preferences.
Its low-maintenance appeal is a major part of its popularity. With little styling required, the buzz cut suits clients with busy lifestyles and can stay looking neat through summer heat, humidity, holidays and gym sessions.
The cut can also provide a reset for clients who have spent years wearing the same style or who want to remove damaged lengths caused by heat styling, bleaching or colouring. As hair grows back, a buzz cut can transition into styles including a crew cut, textured crop or longer look.
Although Haaland has opted for a relatively straightforward version, the buzz cut is far from a one-size-fits-all style. Barbers can work with different clipper grades, fades and lengths to create a look that complements the individual client.
For salons and barbers, Haaland’s latest transformation could be another sign of the continued appetite for shorter, easier-to-maintain men’s styles… particularly those that combine a clean aesthetic with the opportunity for personalisation.
And while Snowden would add a taper or skin fade to Haaland’s version, his verdict on the footballer’s new look is clear: 10/10.
