The Bixie Cut Continues to Trend

Offering clients a versatile option that sits between the classic pixie and bob.

According to Andrew Heasman, creative director of RUSH Hair, the cut has quickly gained popularity with clients of all ages, offering an opportunity for a noticeable transformation while remaining versatile and relatively easy to style.

The Bixie

The trend combines the shorter shape of a pixie with longer lengths throughout, making it particularly effective for creating the appearance of added dimension and depth in finer hair. The cut can work particularly well with oval and heart-shaped faces, drawing attention to features such as the cheekbones and eyes.

Best For

Heasman also recommends the style for older clients experiencing natural hair thinning. The bixie can create the illusion of thicker, fuller hair while offering volume, body and versatility without requiring extensive styling.

While the cut can complement more sculpted face shapes, including square and diamond shapes, Heasman says it can be adapted to suit almost any face shape through styling and tailoring the cut to the client’s features.

Face Shapes

For clients with stronger or more pronounced features, a softer, wispy bixie can help balance proportions. Meanwhile, those with rounder faces could opt for a more defined, blunt version featuring plenty of layers and texture.

The result is a highly adaptable short cut that can be tailored to the individual and as Heasman points out, the bixie can be worn at any age.
