Bringing together hair professionals, entrepreneurs and guests from different backgrounds.
Published:Rob Wood, founder of Novo Cabelo, has launched a new podcast, CABELO: The Root of It All, exploring the experiences, decisions and personal stories that shape careers and businesses, both within the hair industry and beyond.
Bringing together hair professionals, entrepreneurs, clients and guests from a range of backgrounds, the series aims to open up conversations about professional challenges, personal experiences and different definitions of success.
For hairdressers, barbers and salon owners, the podcast offers insights into familiar industry questions, from building confidence and developing a career to supporting others and taking the next step in business.
The opening episode puts Wood in the interviewee’s seat, with Cliff, Novo Cabelo’s Head of Barbering, taking on the role of interviewer.
The pair discuss Wood’s background, the experiences that have influenced his career and the journey behind Novo Cabelo, including the challenges of building the business and his ambitions for its future.
Another episode features Vikki Harrison-Smith, founder of SB Barbering Academy. Drawing on more than 30 years in barbering, she reflects on her journey from apprentice to academy founder, exploring the importance of education, mentoring and the relationship between professional skills and personal confidence.
The podcast builds on Wood’s work using storytelling to encourage more open conversations about hair loss and hair replacement.
Through Novo Cabelo’s client transformations and professional education, he has highlighted the emotional experiences that can sit alongside the technical aspects of hair replacement services.
With CABELO: The Root of It All, the focus broadens to explore the people behind professional achievements, creating space to discuss the challenges, changes and lessons that are often left out of polished accounts of success.
Wood said: “Some of the most useful conversations happen when people stop presenting the polished version and talk honestly about how they got there. I wanted to create a space for those stories, whether that means changing careers, building a business, finding confidence or learning from something that didn’t go to plan.
“Hair brings us into contact with people from every walk of life. The podcast gives us time to explore those experiences properly, and hopefully share something that helps someone else in their own career or life.”
By bringing personal experiences into conversations about professional life, the podcast aims to offer listeners new perspectives on career development, business ownership, mentoring and the realities of working with people.
